The Ultimate Size Guide for Portable Gazebos

Whether you’re showcasing products at a market, hosting an event, or promoting your brand at a convention, when it comes to choosing the right custom printed gazebo for your business, size definitely matters!

There is no hard and fast rule as to the exact size your gazebo should be. Ultimately, there will always be a tradeoff between size, cost, ease of assembly and storage space: too small, and the space may feel claustrophobic, scaring away potential customers; too large, and you risk the space feeling empty.

The key, then, is to think about how many people and how much stock you expect to accommodate, and how you want to use the area. It’s all very well to view different marquees and gazebo sizing options in a search bar, but those sizes can be hard to visualise in a practical way.

How does a 4.5m x 3m gazebo feel with five seated adults inside?

Is a 6m x 3m gazebo going to fit two trestle tables, a banner and six boxes of inventory?

Let’s have a look at some common gazebo sizes, and estimates on what they will likely be able to fit.

Small Gazebos (2m x 2m)

This is an ideal size for solo vendors and product demonstrations, and is perfect for one-on-one interactions.

A small gazebo is particularly helpful when you need a quick, temporary shelter for a small amount of inventory, or just a couple of staff members. The smaller size makes it easier to set up, take down and transport, without the hassle of a larger structure.

Here are some ways to utilise your 2m x 2m space :

  • A standard 1.8m trestle table will take up the width of the space. For food vendors, a table placed in front can create a kiosk-like structure, separating consumers from the food preparation area.
  • For those who wish to display their stock, a 2m x 2m gazebo can also accommodate two standard trestle tables against both sides. This is a great opportunity to break out custom table throws for additional brand exposure. Those interested in this setup might also want to consider a branded back wall.

This is where our custom-printed Pop Up Gazebos can be hugely beneficial, especially when space is limited – your advertising is taken care of without taking up precious inventory space.

Medium Gazebos (3m x 3m)

Vendors at outdoor markets are usually allocated specific amounts of space, which is most commonly 3m x 3m, making this a good size to consider if you plan to run a market stall.

Still lightweight and easy to pack up and down, a 3m x 3m gazebo is great for when you need enough space for both staff members and customers, as well as for inventory and branded displays.

Here are some ways to utilise your 3m x 3m space :

  • Place 4-6 product display tables (about 60cm x 60cm each) in a U-shaped formation to create easy access for customers.
  • Alternatively, if you want your products displayed front and centre to passing customers, you could do an inverse of this shape, leaving space on the inside for staff and inventory storage.

For additional branding opportunities, consider placing one or two Teardrop Banners at the entrance.

Large Gazebos (4.5m x 3m)

A 4.5m x 3m gazebo is great for larger events or business setups where you need to fit more visitors or store large inventory.

With the extra space, you can have more product displays, service counters, or seating areas without sacrificing comfort for the people in your gazebo. You’re also better protected in the event of rain, wind and intense sun.

Here are some ways to utilise your 4.5m x 3m space :

  • A freestanding display stand to present brochures, pamphlets, or other informational materials about your products, as well as a wall rack or pegboard to display items. At this size, you’ll likely also have room for a small point-of-sale counter at the entrance or side of the gazebo, and additional branded items like Stackable Cubes.
  • Divide the space in two to create distinct, but cohesive spaces – one for browsing and one for consultations and purchase.
  • If you’re offering a service like massage therapy, a massage table can easily fit in a 4.5m x 3m space, with room for your clients to relax.

At this size, a branded gazebo will inevitably make an impact – a larger gazebo is worth considering for this reason alone.

Extra Large Gazebos (6m x 3m)

A 6m x 3m gazebo is a fantastic option for sporting events, school fetes or portable retail pop-ups, where you’re expecting to manage a high degree of foot traffic, as well as store a very large inventory of stock.

With great size comes great opportunity, though, so you’ll need a plan of attack to make sure the space looks full and inviting, as there’s nothing sadder than an extra large marquee filled with one lonely table in the centre.

Therefore, here are some ways to utilise your 6m x 3m space :

  • If you’re all about inventory, then the sky is the limit. Display your products as creatively as possible, on shelves, tables and racks, or even hanging from the sides of your booth. You can use stackable shelving to maximise vertical space or incorporate pegboards and grid panels for easy access and organisation.
  • Your branded 6m x 3m marquee is an advertisement in itself, but if you plan to attend trade shows and generate brand awareness, then utilise creative ways to display your business name and logo. Adjustable Media Walls are a great way to encourage engagement and get your name out there.

At this size, you’ll likely have to pay for a larger space at markets and trade shows. However, if space is no object, you have plenty of products to display, and you’d like to see your brand name in (super large) lettering, then this size may be a good option.

Other Considerations

Size isn’t the only factor to consider when purchasing portable gazebos. You should also think about ease of assembly, strength of materials, portability, and how to integrate branding opportunities.

Your gazebo is a long-term investment in your brand, which is why making a considered purchase is so important. At Easy Signs, our branded gazebos are built to last through expos, markets and event season, through rain and shine, pack up and pack down.

Ease of Assembly

The last thing you need at a time sensitive event is a complicated set up.

It only takes two people about five minutes to set up our Pop Up Gazebos, and all instructions are available in our downloadable assembly guide.

Once the canopy has been attached to the Pop Up Gazebo frame the first time, it can stay attached so future setup is even faster.

Strength of Materials

You should consider where you’ll get the most use out of your gazebo – indoors at conventions, or at sunny outdoor markets. This decides how strong the frame should be, the necessary quality of the colour printing, and how long you can expect the product to last.

Our Aluminium Series Pop Up Gazebos feature a heavy-duty hexagonal aluminium frame, come with a Structural Engineering Certification, are certified for Water Repellence and Fire Resistance, and are backed by a three or five year warranty depending on your frame type purchased (Standard or Luxury Aluminium).

Furthermore, if your gazebo is likely to face some rain and wind, you can purchase optional waterbags or sandbags on the Gazebo Accessories page.

Portability

If you plan to use your gazebo for events (and who doesn’t?), you’ll need a gazebo that packs up easily, is light to carry, and isn’t a nightmare to transport.

Our custom gazebos are packed away in a compact carry bag with wheels, making transport to and from events exceptionally easy.

When packed, you can expect to be transporting the following weights and sizes:

Standard Frame packed size and weight :

  • 2m : 1610x250x250mm (15kgs)

Branding Opportunities

A custom branded gazebo is an excellent way to get maximum exposure for your brand.

Our Pop Up Gazebos come complete with a full colour printed canopy. We print your logo, text or images onto all sides, with the option to order full or half walls for the back and/or the sides.

This way, even if you choose to order a smaller gazebo, you can consider the branding portion of decorating done.
